The Best Gift (Loki X Pregnant!Reader) (One Shot)

The table was set, dinner was almost finished, and (Name) had on one of her best dresses. The Valentine's day dinner (Name) had prepared for her husband, Loki, was bound to be amazing. She was about to take a seat to rest her swollen feet when the front door opened. She stood up and rushed to the door.

"Hello dear," she said as she reached up to kiss his cheek.

"Hello love. How are you and my child-to-be this evening?" Loki asked as he placed a hand to his wife's swollen stomach.

"Tired. We have been preparing dinner for today."

"It smells lovely."

"How was work today?" (Name) asked as she led Loki to the dining room.

"I believe that Director Fury has become more trusting of me in the last few days. I have been given a mission tomorrow."

"That's great," she replied as she went to bring in dinner.

"Just sit, love. I can at least bring us the food."

"Thank you," she said as Loki took his seat. "I got you something."

"Really? I thought dinner was it."

"Oh no," she said as she reached into the pocket of her dress, to reveal a small red bag. Loki accepted the gift, and pulled out the contents of the bag. He opened a box and opened it to reveal a golden watch. It had a green back, with emeralds at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 position on the gold.

"It is wonderful!" Loki said with a smile to his wife as he put his watch on his wrist. Then he noticed some water seeping through the carpet under the table. "Did you spill a glass of water dear?" he asked.

"No. My water broke," (Name) said with a grimace.

"Let me grab you a new glass," he said as he went to grab a new glass to replace the supposedly broken one.

"Loki. I meant the baby is coming." That stopped Loki right in his tracks. "Grab the overnight bag, and get in the car," she ordered her husband. He quickly snapped out of it and grabbed the bag and keys. He met his wife in the car, and quickly sped off to the hospital.

He jumped out of the car, and came to his wife's side to help her, but she was already up and waddling to the entrance.

"(Name)!" Loki yelped as he ran to his wife. "Slow down, you are having a child!"

"I'm fine. Just a little bit of pain. Calm down honey," she said with a roll of her eyes.

They approached the desk of the obstetrics wing, and (Name) was ever so calm unlike her husband.

"May I help you?" Asked the desk attendant behind the desk.

"Can't you see my wife is in labor?! How blind can you be, you mortal?" Loki asked, panic dripping from his voice.

"Honey, it's fine. It's not bad yet," she said as she laid a hand on her husbands shoulder while the other rested above her stomach. Just then she grimaced in pain as another contraction hit her.

"See!" Loki said to the attendant.

"May I have your name?" the attendant asked.

"(Name) Lafueyson."

"This way," she said as she led the two to a room.

A few minutes later another contraction went through (Name). Loki continued to worry for his wife, despite the amount of times she assured him it was normal.

"Sorry for a terrible Valentine's Day,"(Name) apologized to her husband, as she continued to go through contractions through the hours.

"I believe you are under a false impression dear. I am glad that I can spend this holiday with you. Even if it is a sad excuse for a holiday. I'm glad that we are here together to bring this child into the world together. It will probably be the best Valentine's Day ever," Loki replied as he laid a kiss on his wife's forehead.

Around eleven thirty that night, after a labor that proved to be more painful than (Name) had expected, filled with some screaming, Loki and (Name) had a son.

"What should we name him?" Loki asked as he gazed at the blue bundle.

After a moment of thought, (Name) decided, "Daryl Davidson. And don't ask me where that came from because I don't know."

Loki pondered it momentarily, then nodded in agreement.

"Oh! While it is still Valentine's Day, I believe I must give you this present," Loki said as he reached into his pocket. He pulled out a slender box and handed it to his wife. She opened the box and revealed her present.

"It's beautiful Loki!" she cried as she looked into the case, balancing the baby on her arms. Inside was a gold tennis bracelet with emeralds, a golden necklace with a emerald heart, and tiny emerald and gold earrings.

"I'm glad you like it," he smiled.

"Well I also gave you a child," she said with a grin.

"Yes, you did. I believe you have given me the greatest Valentine's day gift ever."

"Good," she replied with a smile. Loki bent down and gently pressed his lips to his wife's.

"I love you darling."

"I love you too Loki," she replied with a smile.
