I've got these letters tattooed on my arm
That remind me each second of where I come from
And the long hard road to get me back home

(Name) looked at all the letters she had written since she had left. All 1,095 of them. She had left three years ago on a mission for S. H. E. I. L. D three years ago and hadn't returned.

The people she was sent to spy on had found her and they knew everything about her. They knew her skills and weaknesses. They tortured her trying to get information from her. She fed them lies that made all their plans backfire. After that, they kept her prisoner. She was told she would be allowed to leave if she gave them the information they wanted. (Name) wanted to, but she couldn't no matter how bad she wanted to go home.
However, she had finally escaped, after three years and was on her way home. Home to the people she loved.

Back to my mama who raised me up right
And back to my lady who I held every night
It's a long hard road trying to get home
I'd been gone now for too long

(Name)  missed everyone terribly. She wondered if they thought she was dead. Maybe they did. She cried while she thought about them.

Natasha, who understood everything she went through. Tony, who could always make her laugh. Bruce, who always listened to her. Thor, who was always so sweet. And Clint, who was her shoulder to cry on. They were her family.

(Name) smiled just thinking about them. How sad everyone was when she left and how excited they would be to see her again when she came home.

I'm not trying to stop a hurricane
I'm not trying to shake the ground below
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home

The world seemed like it was trying its best to make sure (Name) never made it back. Some days the weather was so bad she couldn't continue on. Other times she would get lost or something terrible would happen to her.

To make her trip easier, she would earn some money and take a bus or hitchhike with strangers. Most of the time though, she would just walk. Once or twice she passed out because she walked so far without a break. When she could, she found shelter for the night and left before dawn.

I'm not trying to part the ocean waves
I'm not trying to overthrow the throne
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home
I'm just trying to get home

As she got closer and closer, the world seemed to make it more and more impossible than when she first left her prison. It seemed to throw anything and everything at her. At one point, there was a tornado that trapped her in a small Oklahoma town for days. Then, a fire started in the abandoned warehouse she as staying in that nearly killed her. She was nearly killed again when several men cornered her in an alleyway.

I've got this image engraved in my mind
Of  a light that I had in a whole different time
It still lives at the end of the road

Through all the obstacles the world threw at (Name), she never gave up because she remembered her friends. All the wonderful and awful times they had together. She cried when she thought of how Tony almost died in the battle of New York. She laughed when she thought of the movie nights that always ended in popcorn fights. She wanted all those times back. She wanted to hear everyone’s laughter just one more time.

I've seen mountains and valleys through my missing days
But I never once parted with how you begged me to stay
I will run down that long hard and treacherous road to get home

(Name) had been running across the country for days or weeks, she didn't know. She had seen everything, but she never stayed anywhere for longer than she needed to. She kept their last day together on repeat in her head as she journeyed towards home. However, the memory began to fade away as she got closer and closer to New York City.

I've been gone for so long
But my heart it carries on
As it pounds like a drum
On my journey back home

(Name) entered the city and the familiar sights and sounds brought tears to her eyes. The large buildings and skyscrapers brought back so many memories. Her heart beat faster and faster as she passed all the shops she used to visit. She was so close to her home. She was still quite a ways away, but she could see the glowing letters that spelled out Stark in the distance. She began to sprint towards the large tower. She ran past people carrying shopping bags or talking on the phone. Glares were shot at her as she bumped into people, but she didn't care.

I've been gone for so long
But my heart it carries on
I won't give up

(Name) walked into Stark Tower trying not to sprint as she walked into the elevator. It seemed to take forever for the elevator to reach the floor she knew her friends were most likely on. She squirmed and impatiently stood in the elevator as it rose up.

The doors opened and (Name) stepped out of the elevator. She quietly walked over to the living room where her friends were sitting on the couch watching her favorite movie. She stood behind the couch where her friends sat.

“That's my favorite movie, you know,” she said, breaking the silence. Five heads turned and looked at her. Tony shrieked, thinking (Name) was a ghost, and threw the popcorn. The normally emotionless Natasha jumped up with tears in her eyes and hugged her long lost friend and soon everyone else soon joined in.

I'm just trying to get home
I'm just trying to get home
I'm not sure what I think about this. Is this fluff? I'm not sure. I need some opinions! The lyrics are in parentheses because I don't know how to put them in italics. The song is Home by the American Authors. Here's a link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Emh0dq…
Sadly, I don't own the song or the Avengers :(
Enjoy! ~Grace

Aw that's nice.
Now, why didn't I murder my captors before I left?
